Jesus Hopped the A Train

ACT Theatre Stephen Adly Guirgis’ play revolves around the relationship between Angel Cruz and Lucius Jenkins, two men incarcerated at Riker’s Island prison in New York, facing murder charges from the judicial system and spiritual charges from within themselves. ''I think that was a very unusual thing for me, killing that boy, don't you?'' says Lucius, describing his first murder. It's the first production from gutsy new theatre company AZEOTROPE since their debut of Adam Rapp’s Red Light Winter earned them huge acclaim in 2010. The show’s weighty dissection of guilt and redemption follows the company’s mission of “creating a space where audiences confront the marginalized and obscured.”
