Turandot
Date:
Saturday, August 4, 2012 - Saturday, August 18, 2012
Venue:
McCaw Hall Seattle Opera pulls out all the stops for its summer productions, and we expect no less in its presentation of Puccini’s final masterpiece Turandot. It’s the story of a fairy-tale China ruled by a proud, harsh princess who learns how to love when a life-or-death riddle game, a slave girl’s sacrifice, and the passion in a prince’s heart transform fear and hatred into hope. With popular arias like “Nessun Dorma,” two terrific sopranos and a dramatic tenor, plus the pageantry of an imagined court in ancient China, Turandot promises to be sumptuous, theatrical and psychologically riveting.
