Seattle Chamber Music Society Summer Festival
The 31st Summer Festival is among the cream of chamber music festivals countrywide, including 12 July concerts with free preceding recitals, remote outdoor broadcasts, a free outdoor concert in Volunteer Park, a family concert, open rehearsals and three discussions between musicians and KUOW’s Dave Beck. Musicians love playing here, listening to colleagues in a family atmosphere and mingling with the audience. Many are young, most with prestigious awards, alike in their enthusiasm and camaraderie. The music is always accessible but never dull. Artistic director and violinist James Ehnes makes a smooth transition from the reign of former director and founder Toby Saks. Why mess with success?
