Mouse on Mars
Date:
Wednesday, February 20, 2013
Venue:
Neumos For almost 20 years, Mouse on Mars has been on the leading edge of the electronic underground. The German duo of Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma are boundary-pushing innovators, but they inject their music with a discernable playfulness, rendering even their most frantic, beat-mad compositions broad and accessible. On last year’s Parastrophics—their first album in six years—the pair drew from not only its house and techno heritage but mainstream pop, disco, hip-hop and rock ’n’ roll. Not that you’ll necessarily hear any specific influence in tonight’s set at Neumos. Mouse on Mars is an ingenious, energetic amalgam all its own.
