Demons

The Grand Cinema, Tacoma’s best independent theater, has been an oasis for Pierce County filmgoers for years. Lately, they’ve been injecting some grindhouse into the arthouse, programming classic drive-in horror fare between the higher-brow movies that normally butter their bread. In the 1985 Italian shocker Demons, several moviegoers are trapped in a movie theater, then some of them transform into flesh-eating demons with reassuringly icky/scary results. Director Lamberto Bava executes the mayhem with gory comic-book energy and gooses things with a propulsive soundtrack of classic '80s metal and goth music.
