Ancestral Modern: Australian Aboriginal Art

One of the most ecstatically-reviewed exhibitions in recent local memory, “Ancestral Modern” contains more than 100 works created from 1970 onward, in an overview of what has been called the artistic renaissance of the world’s oldest living culture. On August 3, collectors Robert D. Kaplan and Margaret Levi will lead a “My Favorite Things: Highly Opinionated Public Tour” to share their insights on these dazzling multifaceted works, which will find permanent homes in SAM’s collection this fall.
