Encantro das Aguas: Sandra Cinto at Olympic Sculpture Park

Last week, Brazilian artist Sandra Cinto put the finishing touches on her new installation piece, Encantro das Aguas (Encounter of Waters) in the PACCAR Pavilion at the Olympic Sculpture Park.  The drawing, done simply with silver paint pens on top of walls painted seven shades of blue took two weeks with help from two assistants and a team of volunteers.

Cinto used a combination of ladders, scaffolding, and a hydraulic lift to reach the highest parts of the wall.

The silver paint pens used were water-based, in order to avoid a two week-long mass intoxication of all involved.

Boats are often a common theme in Cinto's work, both past and present.  This particular boat was purchased locally from the Center for Wooden Boats in South Lake Union.

The drawing spans the entire Eastern wall of the pavilion, continuing from the inside to the outside of the building.

Encantro das Aguas will be on display in the pavilion through April 14, 2013.
